Holly Wreath - Starlit Christmas Collection Card Tutorial

Holly Wreath - Starlit Christmas Collection Card Tutorial

Hello Crafters,

We're starting the series of Christmas card tutorials using the brand-new Starlit Christmas collection with this beautiful example by one of our newcomers to the Design Team, Carol. Using traditional Christmas colours of gold and red, Carol has crafted this fab easel card that would take centre stage in any home this festive season.

Read on for a full step-by-step project tutorial, complete with a materials list linked so you can click each product to be taken to its respective web page, making it easy to shop.

YOU WILL NEED:

INSTRUCTIONS:

1 Position the card blank with the fold at the top and score a horizontal line halfway down and fold inwards to create an easel card.

2 Using the Basic Squares die set, cut the second largest die twice from gold mirror card, the third largest twice from opal pearl card, and the fourth largest twice from patterned paper. Matt and layer one of each panel together, then adhere to the inside of the card blank.

3 Trim the remaining gold mirror panel to create two 9.5cm wide panels, the remaining opal panel to create two 9cm wide panels, and then the remaining patterned paper panel to create two 8.5cm wide panels. Matt and layer one of each together and affix to the top half of the folded card front. Using dries-clear glue and Salted Caramel Sparkelicious glitter, go around the four sides of the remaining opal and patterned paper panels. Matt and layer all three panels together using foam pads, then adhere flat to the bottom half of the folded card front.

4 Using the Gilded Squares 4 die set, cut the second largest in gold mirror card twice and stick them together back-to-back. Cut the third largest in Opal pearl card and the fourth largest in patterned paper. Glitter around the edges of the Opal and patterned paper panels. Once dry, use foam pads to affix the Opal panel centrally to the gold mirror panel, then affix the patterned panel on top. Affix the layered panel to the lower half of the main card with foam pads so that lifting it creates the tent shape on the easel card.

5 Heat-emboss Starlit Holly Wreath stamp image twice on Opal pearl card using Polished Gold embossing powder and cut both out. Affix one of the wreaths onto the card using foam pads. Adhere red gems or Chilli Pepper Sparkelicious glitter to all the wreath berries. Make cuts around the holly shapes of the other wreath so that more of the berries of the lower wreath will be visible from the top. Attach the top wreath to the lower one with foam pads, rotated so the berries are visible through the gaps. Adhere red gems or glitter to the berries on the top wreath.

6 Cut out four Corner Ribbon Bows and affix two of them in position with the ribbons following around the wreath. Cut the ribbons off from the other two and cover the bows in Salted Caramel Sparkelicious glitter. Once dry, use 3D glue gel to affix them on top of the other two bows. Attach a 10mm sparkler to the centre of each.

7 Die-cut a Basic Circles number 24 in gold mirror card. Die-cut a Basic Circles number 25 in Opal pearl card, and heat-emboss the Holly Jolly sentiment. Affix the gold circle in the middle of the wreath, then, using foam pads, attach the sentiment on top of the gold circle.

8 Using the Gilded Squares 4 die set, use die number six to cut Opal pearl card, die number seven to cut gold mirror card, and die number eight to cut Opal pearl card. Use Salted Caramel Sparkelicious glitter around the edges of both Opal pearl card panels to just over half its shape. Matt and layer the panels, then cut in half, ensuring that the glittered parts of Opal sections are all on one half. Use foam pads to affix to the base of the main card, positioned so that its cut edge creates a ‘stop’ for the easel part of the card.

9 Using the Poinsettia and Berry stamp, heat-emboss twice on Opal pearl card. Cut the poinsettia out of one and cover both poinsettias with Chilli Pepper Sparkelicious glitter and the leaves with Salted Caramel Sparkelicious glitter. Adhere red gems or Chilli Pepper Sparkelicious glitter to the berries. Affix the uncut Poinsettia and Berries image to the base stopper with foam pads, then layer the cut Poinsettia on top, rotated slightly to show all the petals, with small pieces of foam pads to finish.
