Santa's Magic Key - Santa's Workshop Collection Card Tutorial

Hello Crafters,

Unleash the magic of Christmas with today's card tutorial by the talented Christine. There's a tradition that Santa uses a magic key to get into homes that don't have chimneys, and this is the focus of today's design. Using the recently-launched Santa's Workshop collection, Christine has masterfully created this magical card where she crafts a glittering magic key, that could be detached and given to a child to put out on Christmas Eve.

Read on for a full step-by-step project tutorial, complete with linked materials list.

YOU WILL NEED:

INSTRUCTIONS:

Trim the gold mirror card to 7¾” square and affix to the card blank using foam pads. Trim Lapis Lazuli pearl card to 7½” square and Crystal White pearl card to 7¼” square. Edge both with Glistening Ice Sparkelicious glitter and matt and layer onto the card front using foam pads. Trim a sheet of navy and white-patterned paper to 6 ¾” square, edge with Glistening Ice Sparkelicious and affix to the card front using foam pads.

2 Trim a sheet of gold mirror card to 6¼” square and a sheet of Lapis Lazuli pearl card to 6” square and edge with Dulce De Leche Sparkelicious glitter. Matt and layer together using foam pads but don’t attach to the card front yet.

3 Trim Crystal White pearl card to 5¾” square. Create a pattern across the card using the sentiments from the Santa’s Key stamp and die set and the star from the Santa stamp and die set by stamping each image onto the card using the clear embossing inkpad. Cover with Twinkling Lights embossing powder and heat set using the heat tool. Edge with Glistening Ice Sparkelicious glitter and affix to the two layers from Step 2 using foam pads.

4 Cut a 2” wide strip of navy starry vellum to create a band to run around the centre of the top three layers. Adhere at the back using dries-clear adhesive and attach all three layers with the vellum wrap onto the card front using foam pads.

5 Die-cut a piece of Fine Gold pearl card using the key die from the Santa’s Key stamp and die set. Cover with Dulce De Leche Sparkelicious glitter using dries-clear glue and affix to the card front, as shown, using dries-clear glue.

6 Die-cut Crystal White pearl card using the sentiment tag die from the Making A List Checking It Twice stamp and die set. Stamp Santa’s Magic Key onto the tag using the clear embossing inkpad, cover with Twinkling Lights embossing powder and heat set. Edge with Glistening Ice Sparkelicious glitter and affix to the vellum wrap using foam pads.

7 Tie a bow with navy ribbon, add a gold bell, and attach slightly above the key, as shown. Add Self-Adhesive Sparkles to the vellum and background to finish.
