Peony Perfection - Pretty Peonies Card Tutorial

Hello Crafters,

Today, we have a glorious floral birthday card for you, made by the equally glorious Rebecca. Using the new Pretty Peonies collection, Rebecca has shown us how clever matting and layering can completely transform a card design.

Read on for a full step-by-step project tutorial, complete with a materials list that has been linked so you can click on each product to go to its respective web page, making it easy for you to shop.

YOU WILL NEED:

INSTRUCTIONS:

1 Trim a sheet of Azalea mirror card to 7¾” square and affix to the card blank using dries-clear glue. Trim Rose Quartz pearl card to 7½” square and edge with a thin line of dries-clear glue. Cover in Diamante Sparkle Sparkelicious glitter and affix to the card using foam pads. Trim Azalea pearl card to 7¼” square and affix to the card using dries-clear glue.

2 Die-cut a scalloped square from patterned paper and affix to the card using foam pads. Trim a sheet of Crystal White pearl card to 6½” square. Trim patterned paper to 6¼” square and affix to the white panel using dries-clear glue. Die-cut an oval from this matted panel. Edge with a glue pen and cover in Glass Slipper glitter. Affix to the card using a double layer of foam pads. Die-cut an oval frame from Azalea mirror card and glue into place on the card using dries-clear glue.

3 Die-cut an oval from Crystal White pearl card and stamp out the verse into the centre using a clear embossing inkpad. Heat-emboss using Metallic Silver Superfine embossing powder. Affix to the card, inside the aperture, using foam pads.

4 Stamp out the peony image onto smooth white card and colour in using alcohol markers. Die-cut using the coordinating die. Apply dries-clear glue to the leaves and stems, and cover in Grasshopper glitter. Apply lines of dries-clear glue to the flowers and cover in Crystallina glitter. Apply a few self-adhesive sparkles to the centre of the peony. Affix to the card using foam pads.

5 Tie a triple bow and affix to the corner of the card using 3D glue gel. Add a bling stone to the centre. Add a few self-adhesive sparkles to the background, then add three crystals to the top-left and bottom-right corners of the card to finish.
